5 Steps That You Should Follow To Prepare For A New Season In Your Life

The great thing about having an outlet to pour your thoughts into is that it gives you something to look forward to regularly. This blog has been that for me. It’s a journal that I get to share with you. It’s become a part of my life that I have to be intentional about. The best part about it has to be when you engage with my experiences and the thoughts that I share weekly. There’s no greater feeling than when you do something with purpose. 

Generally, I take my time to think of what the next thing I’ll talk about will be. This week is no different. This why I saw it fitting to write about 5 steps that you should follow to prepare for a new season in your life. As I’m typing this I’ve had less than 3 hours of sleep. It’s been a gruelling week in my freelancing career. It feels like there’s a pivotal change that this part of my journey is preparing me for. The past 5 months haven’t been the easiest. In fact, the last 2 have had me drowning in many things at once. On the other hand, my daughter has been going through many milestones during this time. Do you know when things are going right and wrong simultaneously, and you’re uncertain whether life is asking you to let it happen or to show your full strength? That’s what I’ve been going through. 

But then, something magical happened in the past two weeks. The odds started shifting in my favour in every aspect of my life. If you’ve remembered to read every blog post up until this one, you’ll be familiar with the fact that I am now a single mom. You don’t have to feel any type of way on my behalf. These things happen more often than you think they do. What matters is that I am content with the decisions that I’ve taken in my life until now.

There’s something so liberating about changing the narrative of your life. You see, when you’ve tried your best to put other people first or to base your decisions according to their opinions, you’re never going to be happy. I am rapidly learning that happiness is an addictive feeling. Once you’ve figured out what makes you happy it changes everything. Suddenly, the bar is raised so high that only a few can match it. Most importantly, you realise that it’s always been you who’s had the power all along to live the life that you should have. 

Seasons change and life gets better

This time of the year marks a new season, no matter where you are in the world. There’s a certain air of nostalgic feelings that trail behind each season that you enter. Yet, you still look forward to new possibilities that you’re bound to encounter this time around. You’re always so hopeful that each new beginning will come with something better in health, love, relationships, and wealth. As a mom who’s entered a new season as a completely new person, I do look forward to what this season in my life will bring. The great news is that in my country, we’re making way for Spring (if the strong clutches of Winter finally let us go). So, it should be all the blooming that I have been looking forward to for many years now. 

Steps to prepare for a new season in your life 

However, if you’re someone who hasn’t quite thought of preparing for a new season in your life, you’re not alone. It happens to most of us. But since I enjoy making your life easier, I’ve compiled 5 useful tips to help you prepare for yet another new cycle in your life. I’ve summarized these for you as follows. 

  1. You need to create a clear vision of what you want to achieve.
  2. Your visualization should be met by preparation. Prepare to be the best version of yourself this season.
  3. It’s crucial to start new habits that positively influence the new you that you’re trying to create. 
  4. Get valuable support from people that you trust to help you navigate your new lifestyle. 
  5. Learn to say “no” to things that don’t suit who you’re trying to become. 

Although everything seems easy to accomplish, you should remember that it’s important to practice certain things before you can master them. For instance, learning to say “no” to my daughter can prove to be a challenge. If I want us to have a functional relationship that doesn’t leave her at a disadvantage at a later stage, I should learn to change certain things and to create new boundaries tow work for both of us. Most importantly, I should make her understand that our lives are different now. Most certainly better, but different all the same. If you’re going to spring into a new season in your life, you shouldn’t fear the change that is yet to come. Embrace it and be kinder to yourself. This is how you’ll be all the better for it and your life.
